BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in Plano, Texas, Dr. Kirsten Trapp received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Sam Houston State University in 2014. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she worked as a member of the Athletic Advantage team for two years before attending graduate school. She furthered her education at The University of St. Augustine in Austin, Texas to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2018.

Dr. Trapp recognizes the importance of evidence-based practice as a central component of providing high-quality care. Dr. Trapp has attained numerous post-graduate certifications in manual therapy with an emphasis in spinal evaluation and manipulation. Kirsten holds six advanced manual therapy certifications such as advanced lumbar and thoracic spine, advanced cervical and upper thoracic, functional analysis of the pelvis and hip, and more.

Dr. Trapp has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) since 2016. She believes in treating pain through movement, patient education, and hands-on care to reduce pain and the risk of other chronic diseases; a vision she shares with the #ChoosePT movement combating the overutilization of opioids in pain management.

Kirsten grew up dancing, both competing as part of a junior company and in her high school dance teams. Throughout her undergraduate career, Kirsten competed as a member of the Orange Pride Dance Team, winning three National Championships with the National Dance Alliance (NDA) in Daytona, Florida. Dancing, a desire to help others, and an interest in the biomechanics and etiology of musculoskeletal dysfunctions are what drove her to become a physical therapist.

As a Physical Therapist, Dr. Trapp strives to work alongside her patients to improve their quality of life by reducing pain and dysfunction. Her focus is on creating balance throughout the entire body, as opposed to solely focusing on the injured area. Preventing further injury is at the forefront of her therapeutic approach and to do so, she believes in building a patient/therapist partnership to work towards this mutual goal.
